Doringbos: Uncovered Gem of the Cederberg
Nestled in the epicenter of the Cederberg is a completely untouched gem. Doringbos Private Farm, a previous private residence, has opened her doors to the public and is giving the opportunity to experience that true out-of-Africa feeling while not being too far from Cape Town. With unparalleled landscapes and completely remote, this property will make sure that you never want to leave.
The Main House of the Homestead is fully kitted, with a kitchen that has absolutely everything one might need. The outdoor terrace boasts several beautiful communal spaces, all of which are uncompromising with the view of the valley and Doring River below. There are two swimming pools, a hot tub, a fire pit, outdoor dining space and outdoor lounges – this is truly an all-encompassing place with something for everyone!
Outside of the Main House are four cottages, which together sleep twelve guests. Entering the cottages, it is evident that a huge amount of thought and finesse has gone into giving each of them different personalities, while all retain the beautiful rustic-elegance style that is synonymous with Doringbos Farm. “Anneke” cottage is the moody sister, draped with dark curtains and grey walls, and decorated with copper finishes in the bathrooms. Stevie-Jane is the playful cottage, with a lightness that lends itself to families with children. For the more adventurous, there’s an outdoor bedroom with a bed open to all of the elements. An incredible way to wake up in the morning!
With the remoteness of the property it is easy to imagine this as a pure detox for relaxation and restoration. But for those busy-bodies, be sure to know that there are ample activities on the farm to keep you occupied. Fly-fishing and kayaking in the Doring River, G&Ts on the pan, horseback riding and quad biking are just a few of the options of things to do. And for those who are happy to just relax – this could not be the more idyllic place to do so.
The farm is available for exclusive hire only and sleeps eighteen people. Costing starts at R45,000 per night with a minimum stay of two nights.
